T-Jack Shines, Hurts Knee

Heading into Preseason game number two, the biggest worry for the Vikes was injuries. After losing two players to torn ACLs in their first game, the Vikes just wanted to stay healthy.

That didn’t happen. After another great start to the game by quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson, he was knocked out of the game midway through the first quarter with an injury to his right knee. Brad Childress said it is just a bruise, but we should know more in a couple of days.

T-Jack was 7 of 11 for 82 yards with a touchdown before the injury. He again looked very sharp. He threw the ball well and even scrambled and ran for a first down. It was another impressive performance by T-Jack. I hope he is ok!

The Vikes beat the Ravens 23-15 thanks to a 20-7 halftime lead. Most of the starters played the entire first half for the Vikes.

For some reason Chilly had Adrian Peterson carry the ball 8 times. He only gained 30 yards. If I was Chilly I’d rest AD for the rest of the Preseason. Honestly, why play him when it doesn’t matter?!?

Bernard Berrian didn’t play thanks to either a bad toe or groin (Chilly wouldn’t say). Neither did Madieu Williams (injured neck). Rookie, Tyrell Johnson started in his place.

Really all that came out of the game was that T-Jack again looked good, but was hurt and run stuffing defensive tackle, Pat Williams also appeared to have a knee injury. Fat Pat appeared ok.

Jared Allen is clearly the “real deal”. This guys hustles on every play and had a sack tonight. It’s nice to have a legit pass rush!

Darren Sharper had an interception as did Brandon Sumrall (undrafted rookie that will be cut). After having five turnovers last week, the Vikes lone turnover was a John Booty interception for a touchdown. Booty looks terrible. I know he is a rookie, but he looks BAD. Brooks Bollinger is terrible, but he even looks good compared to Booty.

The Vikes scored on a touchdown pass from Jackson to Martin Nance (23 yards) and a Gus Frerotte touchdown pass to Robert Ferguson (5 yards). Kicker, Steven Hauschka made all three of his field goals (21, 34 and 48).

The Vikes need to get positive news on T-Jack’s knee. Although many people doubt him, I think Tarvaris is set for a big year.

NEWT’S GAME BALLS
Offense – Martin Nance
Defense – Darren Sharper
Special Teams – Steven Hauschka
