Don’t Stop Believing Just Yet

This weekend I’m heading back to Minneapolis for my third Viking’s game of the year. In my first two trips I saw wins (Carolina & Detroit). This will be a big game for the Vikes. Coming off their bye week at 3-4, the Vikings have to win to have a shot at the playoffs.

Chicago and Green Bay are both a game up on Minnesota currently. The NFC is packed with quality teams, mainly in the NFC East. New York, Washington, Dallas and Philadelphia all look like playoff teams, however only three of them could make it. If the NFC East fields both wild card teams, the Vikes would have to win the NFC North to make the playoffs. I know this is a little premature, but I’m just saying, the Minnesota Vikings need to start winning.

The looming four game suspensions of both Kevin and Pat Williams will not help the matter. Let it be known the Williams boys DID NOT do steroids or HGH, they just took a weight loss pill that contained something the NFL bans. I assume both with appeal, but I’m fairly sure both will sit for four games sometime this year.

Minnesota host Houston and Green Bay which are both winnable games. Then they go on their Florida swing, at Tampa Bay and at Jacksonville. Both of those games don’t sound good. Minnesota needs to somehow win three of their next four to get back on track.

From the good news department, it appears that Sidney Rice will FINALLY be back from his sprained PCL. Also free agent pickup, Madieu Williams may actually see the field. I’m not gonna lie I don’t expect much at safety from Williams, but I really think Rice has talent.

Brad Childress needs to fire up the troops and start playing a new kind of football. The Chilly way of keeping it close all game is ridiculous. The Vikes need to go for the jugular. Blowing out the Texans would be a good start. I want to see Adrian Peterson lined up at quarterback once or twice ala the Miami Dolphins and I want to see both Chester Taylor and Purple Jesus in at the same time. Chilly has to know that unless the boys start playing, he only has nine games left as an NFL head coach.

There really is no reason for optimism, but the Vikes do have talent. As easy as the Saints game could have been a loss, the Vikes maybe beat Green Bay if Gus is playing, the Vikes likely beat the Colts if Gus is playing and the Vikes beat the Bears if the Special Teams didn’t give up two touchdowns.

Viking fans, we still have hope. At least until Sunday.
