For the Minnesota Vikings the game couldn’t have started better. On the first play from scrimmage Jacksonville botched the snap and Napoleon Harris picked up the fumble and ran 27 yards for a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, Cedric Griffin forced a fumble which Dontarrious Thomas recovered. After a three yard touchdown run by Chester Taylor, the Vikes were up 14-0 after only 1:41 into the game.Jacksonville dominated the rest of the first half after that and I did wait for the Vikes to blow it, but they didn’t. Minnesota came out in the second half and dominated. 30-12 was the final score.
For unknown reasons, Adrian Peterson didn’t play in the first two offensive series for the Vikes, but he ended the day with 80 yards on 17 carries including a 16 yard touchdown.
Gus Frerotte got beat up all game long and he played pretty bad. Frerotte was 12 of 20 for 120 yards with an interception. It is a little concerning how bad old Gussie has looked over the last three weeks.
Kevin Williams (1.5), Pat Williams (1), Ellis Wyms (1) and Ray Edwards (.5) all had sacks. Madieu Williams and Benny Sapp both had interceptions.
It was a solid road win for the Vikes and they played strong in the second half. Now at 6-5, Minnesota HAS TO come out strong next week at home against the Bears on Sunday night. If Minnesota can win that game and be 7-5, playoffs could be a possibility!
